The Halifax Farmers Market 5th Annual Children’s Gift Giving Bazaar needs the public’s help.

Over the past four years, the Halifax Farmers Market has hosted its Children’s Gift Giving Bazaar. The bazaar will open this year from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, and will remain open every Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 15.

Children ages 12 and under can come in and shop for their family and friends. No item is priced over $3.

“Over the past two years, we have had an estimated 300 kids come in and shop with over 1,000 donated items being purchased,” said Denise Barksdale, Halifax assistant manager.

In order to continue with this gift giving bazaar, the market needs the public’s help.

“This is your opportunity to turn those unwanted gifts into someone else’s joy. We are seeking small gently used items such as mugs, figurines, magnets, scarves, costume jewelry, baskets, items for men and any type of small item that a child can hand pick, purchase and gift all on their own,” Barksdale said.

So that the children can wrap their gift before leaving the market, gift bags and unused Christmas cards and envelopes are needed along with candy canes and individually wrapped candies.

Donations can be dropped off at Halifax Town Hall during business hours or at the Farmers Market on Saturday.

Anyone in middle or high school or church youth groups looking for some volunteer hours may contact Barksdale about helping with this event.

All proceeds support this event and other children’s events at the market, Barksdale said, thanking the public for its support.
