Halifax Town Council is slated to host its annual holiday social starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday followed by committees meeting and work session at 6:30 p.m. and the regular monthly council meeting getting underway at 7 p.m. in Halifax Town Hall.

During the council meeting, Police Chief Stuart Comer is expected to present the department monthly report of activities for November followed by council taking action on proclaiming the week of Jan. 20-26 as National School Choice Week.

The combined committees meeting and work session will precede the council meeting when Halifax County Public Library Director Jay Stephens presents library programming highlights and Interim County Administrator Dan Sleeper updates council on the county courthouse project.

Chairs of the business development, finance and current affairs committees also are scheduled to update council on recently held activities as well as those scheduled throughout the month of December.
