A home-based business is in the works for one Halifax man.
Halifax County Planning Commission is set to review a special use permit for Christopher W. Cole for “Home Occupation” when they meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Halifax Town Hall.
The business would be at his home located at 1076 Mountain Road that is in R-1, a residential zoning district.
In addition to his permit, the commission is expected to review the 2018 Smart Scale preliminary award to two projects, a turning radius at the intersection of Mountain Road and Main Street and Halifax Downtown Streetscape Extension Project.
Also on the agenda is the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development “Virginia Main Street Program-Building Economic Vitality Downtown” and “How-to-Apply Workshops for Small Business and Regional Economic Development Programs” grant applications.
Commission members also plan to discuss Virginia Tourism Corporation marketing and economic development strategies facilitation by Sandra Tanner, VTC marketing tourism development specialist, and a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) public assistant grant related to damages from Tropical Storm Michael.
In covering unfinished business, commission members plan to review the status of amendments to Halifax Town Code “Health and Sanitation,” derelict and nuisance properties, town of Halifax Farmers Market activities and the Banister River Flotsam Flotilla cleanup with the Dan River Basin Association.
