Representatives with the Halifax County Humane Society, Halifax County Paws and Claws SPCA and Halifax County Dog Squad recently collected dog food raised from the Halifax Village Association’s annual children’s Christmas parade.

The Halifax Village Association hosted the parade on Dec. 1 with the theme Santa Paws.

Children and pets came dressed for the Christmas season, and participants were asked to make a donation of pet food.

Donations were then divided among the three pet rescue groups in Halifax County.

“Sunshine Mills very graciously donated a pallet of 50lb bags of dog food to support this great cause,” according to assistant Halifax town manager Denise Barksdale.

Those bags of dog food also were divided among the local groups.

“The HVA would like to thank everyone who participated and made a donation to support this great cause,” said Barksdale.

“Thanks to all the local groups and volunteers who do a tremendous job of helping to rescue and care for the many animals in need.”
