Deliveries of structural steel for the courthouse construction project has forced the closure of both lanes of Edmunds Boulevard and Blue Ridge Lane in the town of Halifax to through traffic this week and next week.

In order to off-load the deliveries and to erect the steel structure, it was necessary to locate the crane near the intersection of Edmunds Boulevard and Blue Ridge Lane, according to County Administrator Scott Simpson.

The crane set-up and appropriate safety perimeters is requiring both roads to be closed to through traffic for a duration of approximately two weeks for the first phase of the work.

Appropriate signage, barricades and detour messaging remains in place to direct access to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail facility, Halifax Town Hall, sheriff’s office and the solid waste collection area at the end of Blue Ridge Lane.

Access to the Lisa Francisco law office, the commonwealth’s attorney’s office, Owens Insurance and Cunningham Law office may be made from Mountain Road.
