Residents and businesses of the town of Halifax can now sign up for the town’s annual free fall clean up to remove discarded household or business items and yard debris too large for regular trash pick-up.
The Halifax Solid Waste Department plan to conduct the clean up on Friday, Oct. 23 and Saturday, Oct. 24.
To receive this service, call the Halifax Town Hall at 476-2343 prior to noon on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
When calling, be prepared to leave a name, telephone number and physical address.
Only household or business items that can be lifted by two men will be accepted, and no caustic solvents, toxic or hazardous materials or petroleum-based liquids will be permitted, according to Halifax Town Manager Carl Espy.
Tree limbs and brush must be cut in lengths no greater than 4 feet and neatly piled and placed near the curbside, along with other items.
Town employees will not be responsible for cutting or removing tree trunks or tree limbs with a diameter of 4 inches or greater, Espy said.
The Solid Waste Supervisor will not be required to remove the qualifying material mentioned above if resident or business owner has failed to notify the Halifax Town Hall to schedule a pick-up.
