It’s the Christmas holiday season, and Downtown South Boston is getting decked out in all its holiday finery.

The twinkling lights, decorations and music piped onto the street invite the townsfolk and visitors to stroll downtown and slip back in time to Christmas past, said Destination Downtown South Boston Executive Director Tamyra Vest.

Thus the stage is set for “A Holiday Tradition in Downtown South Boston” — the 31st annual Christmas open house on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.

During Christmas Open House, downtown stores will open their doors for customers’ holiday shopping pleasure from 1 to 5 p.m.

Shoppers can enter to win a $100 downtown gift certificate.

All the merchants welcome visitors during this special holiday event and thank customers for shopping local and supporting the community’s economy, Vest said.

Remember to also get pictures taken with Santa at Moving Voices The Isadora Duncan Cultural Exchange located at 419A Main Street, between the hours of 1 to 4 p.m.

C Action Photography by David Conner II will be printing 4x6 Santa pictures onsite too.

Various backgrounds are available and as always, shoppers may feel free to bring personal cameras and visit with Santa.

“Come help celebrate’A Holiday Tradition in Downtown South Boston’ – the 31st annual Christmas open house, sponsored by Destination Downtown South Boston,” Vest added.

As a reminder, the South Boston Christmas Parade sponsored by Destination Downtown South Boston along with Elliott Electric, Inc. will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2.

Early bird registration deadline is Friday — after that day it is $5 additional charge to register, Vest said.
