Detective Randy Redd has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant with the South Boston Police Department, Police Chief Jim Binner announced Monday.

Redd has been an officer with the agency for over 23 years, and during that time he has served the community as a patrol officer, patrol sergeant, narcotics investigator and criminal investigator, Binner said.

As lieutenant he has been assigned as supervisor of the patrol division.

On Monday, South Boston Police Chief Jim Binner congratulated Lt. Randy Redd on his promotion, and the agency thanked him for his continued service to the town of South Boston.
