South Boston Fire Department Chief Steve Phillips is scheduled to deliver the 2018 annual report for the fire department during South Boston Town Council’s monthly work session on Monday.

The work session is set to get underway at 5:45 p.m. at council chambers on Yancey Street, with the 2018 fire department report first up on the current issues agenda.

Also on the current issues agenda are appointments to the Industrial Development Authority and Transportation Safety Commission, followed by an update on the Edmunds Street-Penick Avenue storm water Virginia Department of Transportation revenue sharing project.

The VDOT revenue-sharing project at the intersection of Edmunds Street and Penick Avenue involves replacement of 72-inch storm drain lines in place for more than 100 years.

Public works are replacing the metal pipe with two 60-inch concrete elliptical pipes beneath sewer and water lines at the intersection, thereby improving drainage capacity.

The project is estimated to cost $540,203, and it also includes new storm drain boxes, new pavement and curb and gutter replacement at the intersection and also the realignment of Penick Avenue with Edmunds Street.

The finance committee has two items on its agenda, including the monthly financial statement and a review of the proposed 2019-2020 budget summary.
