Only two items are on the agenda for South Boston Town Council at its July meeting, set to begin at 7 p.m. Monday at town chambers on Yancey Street.

Council is scheduled to discuss a proposed amendment to the 2019-2020 general budget at Monday’s meeting totaling $3,450,000.

The purpose of the proposed amendment is to appropriate $1 million from the VDOT State of Good Repair Funds for paving of North Main Street; $300,000 carryover from prior year surplus for the new addition at the South Boston Fire Department; $150,000 appropriation from Halifax County for the new addition at the South Boston Fire Department; and a $2 million loan for the Industrial Development Authority of South Boston to complete development of 25 additional apartments for Imperial Lofts LLC.

The amendment, which does not affect any tax or license fee rates, applies to the General Fund.

A public hearing on the proposed amendment is scheduled for the July 29 work session of council.

Also on the agenda is a citizen comment period.
