Downtown South Boston will rock in the Christmas season Saturday with a throwback to the 1970s.
“A Disco Christmas” will dance — and parade — through the streets of downtown beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Parade visitors are reminded that entrants will be on both Chalmers Street at Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Easley Street at KFC.
Watchers need to go south of Easley Street on Wilborn Avenue to view the parade, Destination Downtown South Boston Executive Director Tamyra Vest said.
Immediately following the parade, those attending can visit Constitution Square for a free event, Christmas in the Square, sponsored by The Worship Center featuring live music and a visit from Santa.
Sponsored by Destination Downtown South Boston, Inc. and Elliott Electric, Inc., this year’s yuletide parade will feature four high school marching bands, 15 floats, marching groups, fire trucks, antique cars, dogs, equestrian entries and the highlight of any disco party, Santa.
Bands include Dan River High School Marching Wildcats, Bluestone High School Marching Barons, J.F. Webb High School Marching Warrior Band and host HCHS Blue Comets Marching Band.
