Aidan Davon Henderson of Williams Trail, Halifax, died on Monday, Aug. 24, 2020, at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 16.

Aidan was born in Halifax County on Feb. 17, 2004 to Ms. Debbie Elaine Henderson and was a member of Banister Hill Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

He was a rising sophomore at Halifax County Senior High School, a member of Comets JV Football team, JROTC Organization, and the Robotics Club. He enjoyed attending Misunderstood activities, playing video games, attended car shows, loved fishing and playing golf.

He was a kind gentle giant with a heart of gold, and a true friend.

Aidan is survived by his loving and devoted mother, Ms. Debbie Henderson, of Halifax; one brother, Aaron Chandler; grandmother Frances H. Tucker and step-grandfather Wayne Tucker of Gretna; step-grandmother Rosa Edmonds of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; one aunt, Sevina Craighead; uncles, Donald Henderson and Steven Tucker, both of Gretna, and Jerome Edmonds of Upper Marlboro; godparents, Harvey and Venus Henderson and Nicole Rauls; honorary godfather Samuel Edmonds; and a host of great aunts, great  uncles, classmates, other relatives and friends including Circle of Sisters “Aunties” organization,  Ms. Juanita “Ne Ne” Newman, Michael Anthony Lawson, Morgan Barksdale and Shon Ballou Sr.  

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Frank Davis Edmonds; and great grandparents, Delia Henderson and Frank (Dick) and Vernell Edmonds. 

A graveside service for Aidan Davon Henderson will be Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Banister Hill Christian Methodist Episcopal Church cemetery, Meadville Road, Halifax, with the Rev. Anthony Womack eulogist.  

Following COVID-19 guidelines, a facemask and social distancing will be required at the service.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Saturday, Aug. 29, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home, South Boston.

A vigil in Aidan’s honor will be held Friday, Aug. 28, at 6 p.m. at Halifax County High School student parking lot.
