Mr. Albert “Jimmy” Wallace Guthrie of South Boston died on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020, at Wake Med Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina at the age of 73.

Mr. Guthrie was born Sept. 19, 1947 to the late Lottie Mae Guthrie and the late Mr. John William Hubbard. He was married to the late Mrs. Mary Alice Cole Guthrie and served as a deacon at Berry Hill Baptist Church.

Mr. Guthrie is survived by two daughters, Kim G. Woods (Reginald) of Danville and Tammy L. Guthrie of the home; two granddaughters, Chaquetta J. Guthrie of South Boston and Cameelah S. Guthrie of the home; five brothers, Robert “Bob” Guthrie and William “Deedie” Guthrie, both of South Boston, Major Bruce Hubbard of Halifax, Jerome Hubbard (Cassandra) of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Jessie Hubbard (Sandra) of Nashville, Tennessee; four sisters, Lottie H. Ferrell and Stephanie Hubbard, both of Halifax, Kathy H. Dixon (Willie) of Camp Springs, Maryland and Linda G. Hubbard of Clinton, Maryland; a special friend, Mary L. Chambers; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, DeWayne and Lloyd Hubbard.

Funeral services for Mr. Albert “Jimmy” Wallace Guthrie will be Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in the Berry Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends was held Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, from noon until 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, face masks and social distancing will be required.
