Ms. Annie F. Chism of Watkins Avenue, South Boston, died on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020, at the Woodview Nursing Home at the age of 93.

Ms. Chism was born April 28, 1927 in Halifax County to the late Mr. Artie Ferguson Sr. and Mrs. Catherine Ferguson and was a member of First Baptist Church of South Boston.

Ms. Chism is survived by four children, Catherine Crews of Atlantic City, New Jersey, Barbara Barrington (Robert) of Portsmouth, Kermit Chism (Annie “Renee”) of Chesilhurst, New Jersey and Toni C. Jennings (Rev. Hayward Sr.) of South Boston; one brother, Artie Ferguson Sr. of Paso Robles, California; one sister, Willie Mae Hamlett of Pleasantville, New Jersey; 17 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and devoted friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Thelton “Leroy” Chism and James Chism Sr.

Funeral services for Ms. Annie F. Chism will be Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home, South Boston with the Rev. Haywood Jennings, eulogist. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, there will be limited seating. A face mask and social distancing will be required.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
