Ms. Benita Griffith Wanzer of South Boston died on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the age of 65. 

Ms. Wanzer was born July 23, 1957, in Washington, D.C., to Emily Pounds Griffith and the late Lemont Griffith. She was a member of Ebenezer C.M.E. Church. 

Ms. Wanzer is survived by her mother, Emily Pounds Griffith; two children, Cochise A. Wanzer II (Nancy) and Chiree D. Wanzer; three grandchildren, Cochise III, Nick and Noah Wanzer; two sisters, Deborah Bond (Benjamin) and Lakeeta G. Mayfield; her beloved grand-dog, Bentley; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Jerone L. Griffith; and a special niece, Jahnell L. Hammonds. 

Funeral services for Ms. Benita Griffith Wanzer will be Friday, May 5, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer C.M.E. Church with the Rev. Blanche Stewart, eulogist. 

Public viewing for family and friends will be Thursday, May 4, 2023, from noon to 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
