Bernice Mae Francisco McKinney passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023.
She was born in Halifax County on July 24, 1934, to the late James William Francisco and the late Ethel Mae Francisco. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Allen McKinney.
She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Bernice was committed to her husband and her family. She was an excellent cook, loved playing games and watching game shows. Her passing will leave a void and she will be greatly missed by all.
Bernice Mae F. McKinney is survived by stepson Dale Allen McKinney and wife Angela of South Boston; three grandchildren, Telisa McKinney of South Boston, Burke McKinney (Tera) of Charlotte, North Carolina and Cole McKinney of South Boston; two great-grandchildren, Kaylin and Blake McKinney; two sisters, Barbara Reese of South Boston and Dorothy Verdi of Colonial Heights; nephew, Jason Reese (Ashley) of Clemmons, North Carolina; and special friends, Janice McKinney, Jane Conner and Diane Mull.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cole McKinney officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday evening at Powell Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
