Betty Lane Davis Ford of Halifax County passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019. She was born in Pittsylvania County on Dec. 5, 1938 and was 80 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Whit William Lane and the late Lona Crews Lane. She was married to James Wallace Ford who survives.

Betty was an excellent mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening and loved her church, South Boston Church of God, and her church family. She loved praising and worshiping God and was a strong prayer warrior.

Betty Ford is survived by her husband, James Wallace Ford, of Halifax; her daughter, Peggy Duffey, and husband Tony of Lynchburg; six grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, the Rev. Marion Harper Davis, her daughter, Phyllis Lancaster Francis, granddaughter Charity Lancaster Perry and brothers Willard Lane, Walter Lane and Raymond Lane.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019, at 2 p.m. at South Boston Church of God with the Rev. T. Wayne Daniel officiating.

Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
