Catherine Williams Francisco of Halifax passed away July 3, 2020 at her home.
She was born in Halifax County on Jan. 24, 1924 and was 96 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Willie J. Williams and the late Martha Ann Martin Williams. She was married to the late Walter Andrew Francisco.
She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She loved her family and friends. She was a farmer’s wife and she worked very hard. She was an amazing cook and made the best fried chicken and biscuits. She loved to laugh and take care of everybody. Everybody loved her.
Mrs. Francisco is survived by her children, Patti F. Atkinson, daughter and caregiver, of the home, and Walter T. (Tom) Francisco and wife Raya of Coral Springs, Florida; two granddaughters, Julie Barnwell, and husband Chris of Weaverville, North Carolina and Deborah Palmer and husband Peter of Coral Springs; special grandson Edward Atkinson (Terrie) and daughter Jordyn of Largo, Florida; five great-grandchildren, Cody Donhauser of Boynton Beach, Florida, Aiden Palmer and Gavin Palmer, both of Coral Springs and Dylan Barnwell and Emily Barnwell, both of Weaverville, North Carolina; two sisters, Gertrude Francisco of Scottsburg and Hazel Saunders of Halifax; and special nieces and nephews.
Her siblings, Alice Overby, Lena Smith, James Thomas Williams, Willie “Buck” Williams, Woodrow Williams and Edward Williams, daughter-in-law Claire Francisco and son-in-law Johnny Atkinson, also preceded Mrs. Francisco in death.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 11, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Powell Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Don Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 10, 2020, from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home.
