Charlie Wilson Edmondson was born in Halifax County to Annie Elizabeth Watkins and her husband, Wilson A. Edmondson on Oct. 11, 1935. Charlie was the oldest of his six siblings, which included two brothers and three sisters.

Charlie graduated from Mary M. Bethune High School in 1954 and soon after enlisted to serve in the military. He reached the rank of Seaman in the Navy where he served aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid and the U.S.S. Valley Forge. He was honorably discharged in 1962 after serving for eight years. Upon leaving the military, Charlie relocated to Baltimore, Maryland where he drove for The Yellow Cab Company. He thoroughly enjoyed his career and he continued to drive for the company until his retirement.

Charlie departed this life on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, at the age of 86.

He was preceded in death by both parents; brother Donald Herbert Edmondson; sisters Doris (Pudding) Edmondson and Mrs. Margaret Edmondson Medley.

Charlie is survived by a younger sister, Gracie Holt of Richmond; younger brother, Otis C. Edmondson of San Jose, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.
