Mr. Curtis Lee Hicks of Scottsburg died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 64.
Mr. Hicks was born on Aug. 24, 1956 in Halifax County to the late Patrick H. Hicks and Maggie E. Hicks. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. Hicks is survived by two daughters, Martina Hicks, of Henrico and Sheena Hicks of Scottsburg; four grandchildren, Lalah Terry-Hicks, Carlton Crutchfield, Xavier Terry-Hicks and Deanna Brown; four sisters, Patricia Warner (Esau) and Sallie Temple (Robert), both of Maryland, and Kathleen Walters (John) and Juanita Hicks-Howard (Tyrone), both of Washington, D.C. ; one brother, Willie Hicks (Margaret) of Scottsburg; his friend and ex-wife, Mary V. Watkins, of Scottsburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, one sister, Rebecca Crews, also preceded him in death.
Graveside services for Mr. Hicks will be held on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Scottsburg with the Rev. K. Anthony Jones officiating.
Due to COVID-19 guidelines, a face mask and social distancing will be required.
Public viewing will be held at Jeffress Funeral Home chapel today, Jan. 8, 2021, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
The family will receive friends at 1180 Woods Creek Lane, Scottsburg.
