Deacon Freddie S. Jeffress Jr. of South Boston died Tuesday, March 30 at the age of 68.
Deacon Jeffress was born in Halifax County on June 28, 1952 to Mrs. Edith Flenoury Jeffress and the late Rev. Freddie S. Jeffress Sr. He was married to Deaconess Yolanda Stanfield Jeffress and was a member of Spanish Grove Baptist Church. Freddie was and a United States Army Veteran.
Deacon Jeffress is survived by his wife, Deaconess Yolanda S. Jeffress of the home; three daughters, Lovie Moorefield (Reggie) of Danville, Kristie L. Jeffress of South Boston and Racquel S. Jeffress of Richmond; two sons, Freddie S. Jeffress III of Washington, D.C. and Jeremy R. Jeffress of Phoenix, Arizona; three grandchildren; his mother, Edith Jeffress of South Boston; one sister, Minister Jane l. Marable (Joseph) of South Boston; two brothers, Rev. Gerald D. Jeffress Sr. (Cynthia) and Rufus K. Jeffress (Angie); one sister-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and as host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including Conway M. Blanks.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Gloria Stokes and Vealer Staten and one brother, Joel Jeffress.
Graveside services for Deacon Freddie S. Jeffress Jr. will be held Monday, April 5 at 1 p.m. with services at Spanish Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Womack officiating. Military rites will be rendered by The United States Army Honor Guard. Following COVID-19 guidelines, a face mask and social distancing will be required.
Public viewing was held at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
