Mrs. Edith Fields Gillespie, age 79 of New York, formerly of Halifax County, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 5, 2020, in Brooklyn, New York.
She was the daughter of the late Mr. Finley Fields and the late Mrs. Sarah Garrett Fields. She was wife of the late Mr. Nathaniel Gillespie Sr.
In addition to her parents and husband, her brother, Mr. James H. Fields, also preceded her in death.
Edith leaves to cherish her loving memories, two sons, Nathaniel Jr. of Kinston, North Carolina and Antonio of Brooklyn, New York; two grandchildren, Amber German of Kansas City, Missouri and Jonathan Hutcherson of Bronx, New York; one great-granddaughter, Acelynn German, of Kansas City; two brothers, John L. Fields (Mary) of Bronx and the Rev. Finley J. Fields (Gloria) of South Boston; one aunt, Nettie Bell of St. Albans, New York; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home chapel in Brookneal.
Public viewing will be Thursday, June 18, 2020, from noon until 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home in Brookneal and on Friday, June 19, 2020, from noon until 6 p.m. at the Crawford House in Halifax.
