Mrs. Edith King “Ebay” Owen of King Village Trail, Halifax died Thursday, July 23 at her residence at the age of 101.
Mrs. Owen was born in Halifax County on Feb. 12, 1919 to the late Mr. James Thaddeus King and Mrs. Hallie Florence Boxley King. She was married to the late Mr. Murray Easley Owen and was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and a former employee of Halifax County Public Schools.
Mrs. Owen is survived by her multitude of nieces, nephews, Piney Grove Baptist Church family, other relatives and friends including one special friend, Mr. Paul Jones.
In addition to her parents and spouse, Mrs. Owen was preceded in death by five sisters, Mrs. Velma Ballou, Mrs. Verba Martin, Mrs. Marion Jackson, Mrs. Margaret Ballou and Mrs. Rose Wright; three brothers, Mr. Alfonzo King, Mr. Willie King and Mr. Leon King.
Graveside services for Mrs. Edith King “Ebay” Owen will be held Wednesday, July 29 at 11 a.m. with services at The King Family Cemetery in Halifax with Rev. Anthony Jones officiating.
Public viewing for family and friends will be at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
