Ms. Elizabeth Stephens of South Boston died Sunday, June 21, 2020, at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 90.
Ms. Stephens was born in Halifax County on Aug. 18, 1929 to the late Joseph Stephens and Mary Lucy Brandon Stephens.
She was a member of Greater Brandon Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and was a former custodian for Halifax County Public Schools.
Ms. Stephens is survived by one daughter, Shirley Owen (Harold) of South Boston; two sons, Melvin Stephens and Ronnie Stephens, all of South Boston; two grandchildren, Nakisha Logan and Marlo Owen; four great-grandchildren, Mya, Saniyah, Lyric and Jaydon; a devoted caregiver, Crystal Dunkley, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, two brothers and five sisters also preceded her in death.
Funeral service for Ms. Stephens will be Thursday, June 25, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Greater Brandon Missionary Baptist Church cemetery with Pastor Michael Galloway officiating.
At the request of the family there will be no public viewing at Jeffress Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at 5231 East Hyco Road, South Boston, the home of Harold and Shirley Owen.
