Ms. Eva Josephine Buster of New Jersey formerly of Scottsburg died Friday, April 10 at Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in New Jersey at the age of 84.

Ms. Buster was born in Halifax County on Dec. 23, 1935 to the late John Mabel Buster and Fannie Eleanor Hicks Buster. At an early age she joined Piney Grove Baptist Church and later became a member of Second Baptist Church.

Ms. Buster is survived by three sisters, Marion L. Dixon of Mays Landing, New Jersey, Shirley L. Buster of Pleasantville, New Jersey and Gloria D. Buster of Atlantic City, New Jersey; four brothers, Cain “CD” Buster (Melba) of Hopewell, Wilbert Buster (Tammy) of South Boston, Gilbert Buster (Karin) of Germany and Jesse Buster of Scottsburg; one daughter-in-law, Rita Ferguson; two granddaughters, Eva Ferguson and Gabrielle Ferguson; one great grandson; one aunt and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including god-children, Sidney Dabney and Teneka Gaskins.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Buster was preceded in death by one son, David R. Ferguson; two brothers, John M. Buster and Albert H. Buster; and two sisters, Fannie R. Webb and Kate R. Buster.

Funeral services were private in Atlantic City, New Jersey and Scottsburg due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ms. Eva Buster will be laid to rest at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
