Harold C. Hamlett of Aylett passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, at the age of 84.

He was the son of the late Carlton H. (Buck) Hamlett and the late Elsie McKinney Hamlett of Charlotte County and was married for 57 years to his wife, Maxine Bradley Hamlett.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine, of the home and their three children, daughter, Lee Ann Stratton; son, Carlton L. (Buck) Hamlett and his wife, Sheila; and son, Terrence (Mac) Hamlett and his wife, Julie. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Katie, Deidrea, Vincent, Will, Rebecca and Lizzie; and four great grandchildren, Jackson, Makayla, Aaron and Hamilton.

Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Edith H. Stutts and husband, Tom, and nieces and nephews, Skip, Mike, Kelly, Heidi and Catherine and many other close family members and friends.

He was predeceased by another sister, Virginia H. Mulligan and her husband, Marvin.

Harold was a United States Air Force veteran of 20 years and spent time in the Philippines, Thailand, Spain and saw combat in Vietnam.

After retiring from the military, Harold successfully owned and operated two auto repair businesses. After retiring from those, he was a part-time mail carrier for a couple of years. When he finally retired from the post office, he and Maxine traveled extensively.

During his retirement years, Harold served as commander of VFW Post 9501 and also president of the Mechanicsville Lions Club.

His family and friends will miss him and will always remember him fondly.

Family will receive visitors at the B W White Funeral Home at 7837 Richmond Tappahannock Highway in Aylett from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021. Attendees are asked to be cognizant of health measures and wear a mask if they plan to visit with the family.

After visitation, the immediate family will accompany him to the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia where he will be buried.
