Mrs. Hazel H. Wimbish of Scottsburg died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020, at her residence at the age of 77.
Mrs. Wimbish was born in Saxe on Feb. 4, 1943 to the late Ms. Laverne Drew Hill and was married to the late Rev. Dr. James Wimbish.
She joined Rocky Branch Baptist Church in Red Oak.
Mrs. Wimbish is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Terry, of Scottsburg and Patricia McCargo of Somerset, New Jersey; one son, Mr. Philip McCargo, (Natalie) of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania; one step-son, James Edward Wimbish Jr., (Etta) of Gordonsville; one step-daughter, Debra Jagger, of Java; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her mother of Williamsburg; three sisters, Amanda Hill-Dandridge, and Shetton and Frederica Hill; four brothers, Reuben Hill, Wilbert Hill Sr. (Doretta), Sherwood Hill and Frederick Hill; five brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Avis Lee.
Funeral service for Mrs. Wimbish was held Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, at 2 p.m. at The Crawford House Chapel in Halifax. Burial will be Monday, Sept. 14, at Highland Burial Park, Danville.
Due to COVID-19 regulations, a facemask will be required and seating may be limited due to social distancing requirements.
Public viewing for family and friends was held at The Crawford House Chapel in Halifax on Friday, Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
