Mr. Howard Davis Powell of Randolph passed away Friday, Aug. 14, 2020 at his home. He was born Feb. 1, 1940 in Halifax County and was 80 years old. He was the son of the late Wilson Hagood Powell and the late Lucy Hazelwood Powell and was married to Barbara Hazelwood Powell for 60 years.

He was a devoted Christian and retired logger.

Mr. Howard Davis Powell is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara H. Powell of the home; his children, Lisa Powell Anderson (Mickey), Kevin Todd Powell (Tracey) and Michelle Renee Powell; three special children, Gary, Amy and Pam; 11 grandchildren, Kimberly, Kristi, Kendall, Jacoby, Brianna, Oscar, Adrian, Marilena, Corrie, Lorrie and Katie; nine great-grandchildren, Calvin, Katelyn, Addison, Natalie, Marissa, Lisa, William, Julia and Colton; one brother, Richard Wilson Powell (Brenda); one sister, Virginia “Mollie” Welch; and a number of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Estelle Seamster, Mattie Martin and Ola Welch; and one brother, Floyd Powell Sr.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 17, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the Fork Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Warfield officiating. Burial will follow at the Clover Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Fork Baptist Church and other times at his home.
