Imogene “Emma Lee” Whitt Robertson of South Boston passed away Oct. 30, 2020.
She was born in Halifax County on Oct. 22, 1923, and was 97 years of age.
She was the daughter of the late Jack Buntin Whitt and the late Lillian Spencer Whitt. She was married to the late Virgil Robertson.
She was a member of First Baptist Church. She loved her church and her church family. When the church van rolled, she was onboard and ready to travel. Imogene was a hard worker, loved gardening, being a homemaker and especially enjoyed reading. When she received the Richmond Times-Dispatch newspaper, she didn’t stop until she read it front to back. She was an avid genealogist and loved the study of family history.
Imogene ”Emma Lee” Whitt Robertson is survived by her grandson, Greg Lacks of Durham, North Carolina; her sister, Lena Bish of Harrisonburg; a host of nieces and nephews; one step-daughter, Mary Ann Wood of Halifax; and one step-granddaughter, Stacy.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Starr Lee Welch and siblings Owen Whitt, Marcellus Whitt, Lacy Whitt and Ann W. Terry.
A graveside service was held Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Halifax Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Susan Davis officiating. In keeping with CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19, masks were requested as well as social distancing.
