Mr. Jacob Junior “Jake” Wilborne of Scottsburg died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020, at his residence at the age of 86.

Mr. Wilborne was born in Halifax County on Nov. 5, 1933 to the late Mr. Ned Wilborne and Mrs. Alvergie Garrett Wilborne. He was married to the late Mrs. Shirley Ann Lacks Wilborne and was a member of Bethel Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Wilborne was a retired employee of ABB.

He is survived by five sons, Mr. Wayne Wilborne (Jeanette) of Halifax, Mr. Kenneth Wilborne and Mr. Tracy Wilborne (Victoria), all of Scottsburg, Mr. Larry Lacks (Liz) of South Boston and Mr. Ronnie Lacks (Janice C.) of Clover; six grandchildren; one step-grandson; one brother, Mr. Joseph Wilborne (Vivian) of Clover; three sisters-in law; three brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, two brothers, Mr. Earnest Wilborne and Mr. James Wilborne and five sisters, Mrs. Mary Collins, Mrs. Ellen Epperson, Mrs. Marlene Cherry, Mrs. Betty Cousins and Mrs. Martha Coleman, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services for Mr. Wilborne will be held Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020, at 2:30 p.m. at Bethel Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. William Hicks as eulogist.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

Public viewing will be Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.  

The family will receive friends at the residence, 8138 James D. Hagood Hwy, Scottsburg.
