Mr. James Carrington of Sutphin Road, South Boston, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, at his residence at the age of 66.

Mr. Carrington was born in Halifax County on Oct. 6, 1953 to Mrs. Marie Torian Watkins and the late Mr. Edward Carrington and was married to Mrs. Annie Carrington.

He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and later joined Prospect Hill Baptist Church.

Mr. Carrington was the pastor of First Buffalo Baptist Church in Long Island until his health declined, and he was a United States Army Veteran.

Mr. Carrington is survived by his wife, Mrs. Annie Carrington, of the home; one son, Mr. William Satchell, (Katrina) of Roxboro, North Carolina; his mother, Mrs. Marie Torian Watkins, of South Boston; two brothers, Mr. Edward Carrington (Edwina) of New Jersey and Mr. Ronald Carrington (Alicia) of South Boston; one aunt, Ms. Juanita Torian; one brother-in-law, Mr. Charles Carrington, (Rosa); and a host of nieces, including the devoted Ms. Brittany Williams, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Mr. Phil Carrington, one sister, Ms. Donna Marie Williams, and his stepfather, Mr. Theodore Watkins.

A funeral service for Mr. James Carrington will be held Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019, at 11 a.m. with services at Prospect Hill Baptist Church in Roxboro, North Carolina.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

Public viewing will be Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, from noon until 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 2305 Sutphin Road, South Boston.
