Mr. James Daniel Brown of Clover entered eternal rest on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2020, at his home while surrounded by family.
Mr. Brown was born in Halifax County on Oct. 4, 1941 to the late William and Mary Bell Brown and was married to Claudia Lassiter Brown. He served in the United States Army from 1964 through 1970 as a Military Police Officer and was stationed at the Demilitarized Zone (“DMZ”), located between North and South Korea, for the majority of those years.
James was a devoted Deacon at Sunflower Baptist Church in Nathalie.
Deacon James Brown leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Claudia Brown, Clover; three sons, Daniel Brown (Patricia), Queens, New York, Christopher Brown (Kenya), Valley Stream, New York, and Darrell Brown (Consuelo), Greensboro, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Marquis Brown (Kylah), Christopher Brown Jr. (Dominique), Tia Brown, Sydney Brown, Claudette Poyner (Joshua) and Joshua M. Brown; three great-grandchildren, Christopher James Brown III, Chaim Brown and Chasin Brown; four sisters, Gazaria Brown, South Boston, Leathie Coleman, Chicago, Illinois, Betty Williams, Queens, New York and Patricia Brown, Queens, New York; two brothers-in-law, Harvey Dillard, South Boston and Johnnie Willie Lassiter (Carolyn), Seaboard, North Carolina; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Townes, Seaboard, North Carolina, Loretta Brown, Clover and Patty Brown, Clover; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Othella Dillard and Laura Brown; two brothers, Earl Brown, Colson Brown; three brothers-in-law, Ernest Coleman, Al Williams, and Lucious Townes.
Graveside services for Deacon James Daniel Brown will be Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Sunflower Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Tucker officiating.
Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday, Aug. 21, 2020, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
