James “Jimmy” Dodge Fisher Sr. of South Boston passed away on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020, at the age of 84.

He was born in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 22, 1935, to the late George Allnutt and Sarah Sullivan Fisher but was raised in South Boston with his aunt and uncle, Margaret and Roy Sullivan.

He was a graduate of Halifax County High and worked as a core coil assembler at Westinghouse (ABB). He loved making things, particularly tables, chairs and other furniture pieces. Many considered him a true patriot and knew him as an avid Washington Redskins fan. He was a member at First Baptist Church.

Cherishing his memories are his children, James Dodge “Dodd” Fisher Jr. (Teri), Anthony Floyd “Tony” Fisher, Susan Renee Fisher, Sherri Fisher Bee and Kimberly Fisher Welcher (Chip); sister, Patricia Gibson; and sister-in-law, Pat Fisher. He is also survived by four grandchildren, one step-grandchild, nine great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild and a host of other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by brothers, John Fisher, Richard Fisher and David Fisher.

A private funeral service will be held with the Revs. Garrett Bowman and Susan Davis officiating. There was a livestream broadcast of the service on the Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Facebook page at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to the First Baptist Church Mission Group Fund be considered.
