Janie Elliott Keeton went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021. She was born in Halifax County on May 16, 1927 to the late Henry Anderson Elliott and Annie Laura Hogan Elliott Hall. Janie was the wife of Hurley Lee Keeton, whom she married on Oct. 9, 1943.

Janie was retired from Burlington Industries with 27 years of service. Her last job was in the sample department. She was a member of Aaron’s Creek Baptist Church. Janie loved all kids, her flowers and garden, her precious dog, Jill, and her cat, Kitty. Everyone called her Granny.

She is survived by daughters Annie K. Overby (Lynn), Lois K. Martin (Tony), and Linda K. Puryear and Donald Wall; sister Marion Davis; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; and 14 step grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, William Anderson “Sambo” Keeton; grandson William Dale Keeton; granddaughter Tiffany Martin; and her brothers, Henry “PeeWee” Elliott, John Elliott, Anderson Elliott, Tom Elliott and Stover Elliott; and her sister, Mary Elliott Vaughan.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, at 2 p.m., with a visitation one hour prior, at Aaron’s Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow services in Aaron’s Creek Baptist Cemetery. The Rev. Ian Rigney will officiate.
