Mrs. Jannie Mae Coleman Farrar of Hamilton Boulevard, South Boston, died Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 85.

 Mrs. Farrar was born in Halifax County on June 4, 1934 to the late Mr. Joe Joseph Coleman and Mrs. Bernice Farmer Coleman.

She was married to the late Mr. Amos Edward Farrar and was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

 Mrs. Farrar is survived by three daughters, Edna Wimbush (Silas) of Lynchburg, Shirley Williams (Ray) of Nathalie and Rosa Farrar of District Heights, Maryland; five sons, Amos Farrar (Delois) of Halifax, Wayne Farrrar of Clays Mill, Wesley Farrar (Maxine) of Lynchburg, Willie Farrar of Chesterfield and Ronnie Farrar (Jackie) of Reston; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren; one sister, Rebecca Prince, of Harlem, New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, one sister, Bernita Dunkley, and one brother, Joe Coleman, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services for Mrs. Farrar will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Claiborne officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday, Aug. 2, 2019, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the residence of Shirley and Ray Williams, 4104 Coles Ferry Road, Nathalie.
