Jean Covington Dalton, 81, of Ringgold passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023, at her residence.

She was born May 17, 1941, in Halifax County to the late Curtis Lillian Fallen Covington and the late Eddie Covington.

She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Kenneth Pettrice Dalton.

She will always be remembered as a kindhearted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her.

She is survived by two daughters, Regina D. Adkins of Blairs and Sandi D. Fowler and husband Ronnie of Blairs; one son, Mike Dalton and wife Marie of Ringgold; eight grandchildren, Shaun Adkins, Whitni Burnette (Caleb), Laura A. Johnson (Hunter), Carli R. English (J.D.), Tyler Adkins (Destiney), Jessica D. Matherly (Michael), Josh Fowler (Claire) and Ryan Dalton (Jordan); eleven great-grandchildren, Braeden Burnette, Hunter Burnette, Kenzi Burnette, Hogan Fowler, Graycie Fowler, Layne English, Pearson English, Reid Johnson, Tate Johnson, Blair Dalton and Kendall Matherly; and her brother, C.D. Covington (Polly).

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her sister, Almeda C. Seamster, and brothers, Benton Covington, Elmer Covington, Marshall Covington, Roy Covington and Welford Covington.

The family would like to thank Mt. Valley Hospice and caregivers, Destiney Houser and Gloria Houser for all their loving care.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends and family at residence of Mrs. Dalton.
