Jerry Wayne Medley Sr., age 60, passed away Nov. 3, 2020.
He was born Feb. 24, 1960 in South Boston to the late Jerry and Lizzie Medley.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Sherry Medley; children Jerry Medley Jr. (Emily Medley), Marnetta Medley and Michael Medley; grandchildren Julvonnie Medley and JayVon Medley; brothers Ivory Medley (Mary Medley) and Preston Medley (Deborah Medley); sister Sheila Brinkley (Carl Brinkley); step-sister Deborah Medley; honorary son and daughter Shad and Heather Dortch; and a host of nieces, nephews and close personal friends.
Jerry recently retired from Halifax County Public Schools as a bus driver and trainer. He was a dedicated Jehovah’s Witness and impacted the lives of many through his passion for his ministry.
He successfully ran a lawn care business and enjoyed working on cars. He was a loving father not only to his children but their friends and so many more.
He was a source of advice, encouragement and love. He modeled his life to mirror the Bible and his Heavenly Father’s son Jesus Christ, setting an example for so many.
He will truly be missed, but the memories and loving advice he gave all will be remembered forever.
A public viewing for Jerry will be held at Dunn and Son’s Funeral Home, 540 N. Main St., Halifax on Saturday, Nov. 7, from noon to 6 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at another time to be announced.
