Jimmie Gillespie passed on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, at the age of 86.
He was born on Jan. 17, 1934 to the late Rev. William and Mary Gillespie.
James served in the United States Air Force (Tulane, Greenland). He also worked for the Long Island Transit Authority, Long Island, New York. In 1992 he returned to Nathalie and joined County Line Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Verneda, James is survived by three step-sons, Gregory Terry of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Kenneth Terry (Tonja) of Woodbridge, and Jeffery Clark (Isaacba) of Accokeek, Maryland; a step-daughter Felicia Jones of Riverdale, Maryland; favorite niece, Rebecca Spaulding of Jamaica, New York; six sisters-in-law, Linda Reid (DeForest) of Halifax, Jean Sims of Virginia Beach, Florence Dyson of Clinton, Maryland, Cheryl Terry of Halifax, Flora Terry of Clinton, Maryland, and Edith Gillespie of Manhattan, New York; three brothers-in-law, Aubrey Terry (Joby) of Halifax, Marvin Terry and Bobby Terry (Angela) all of Halifax; a host of nieces and nephews; special friends, Alice Carter and family, Johnny and Ruth Randolph, Sylvester Morrell, Barbara Crawford, and Richard and Lilly Huberts.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Richardson and Genevieve Gillespie; and three brothers, Fred, William, and Nathaniel Gillespie.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020, at 1 p.m. at County Line Missionary Baptist Church.
