Jo Morgan Francis of Halifax passed away Oct. 13, 2020.

She was born in Halifax County on May 5, 1965 and was 55 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Jack David Morgan and the late Nancy Culley Matthews. She was married to John Wilson Francis who survives.

She was a member of Victory Cowboy Church.

In addition to her husband of the home, survivors include her daughter, Beverly Elizabeth Smith and husband Lee of Halifax; one stepdaughter, Chelsey Sturdivant of San Antonio, Texas; her grandchildren, Mikayla Butler, Levi Smith, Eli Smith and Mya Sturdivant; her siblings, Debra Morgan Matthews of Halifax, Nona Morgan Hite (Riley) of South Boston and Jason Brent Morgan of Nathalie.

A grandchild, Maci Joy Smith, half-sister Brenda Banks, stepfather Elson “Buck” Matthews, nephew Joshua Adam Morgan, mother-in-law Mary Ann Campbell, and two special friends, Karol Smith and Jack Conner, preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Larry Green officiating.

Burial will follow in Clover Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today, Oct. 16, 2020, from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at the home of Beverly and Lee, 1016 Booker Trail, Halifax.
