Mr. John Arthur Leigh of Crystal Hill died Friday, July 17, 2020, at his residence at the age of 75.

Mr. Leigh was born in Halifax County on Jan. 18, 1945, to the late Mr. James Monroe Leigh and Mrs. Bertha Crews Leigh and was a member of Crystal Hill Baptist Church. For many years, Mr. Leigh resided in Landover, Maryland, and was a retired employee of Preston Freight Trucking Company.

Mr. Leigh is survived by four sons, Andrea Leigh of Charlotte, North Carolina, Trai, Troy and Alfred Williams of Landover; one daughter, LaSalle Leigh of LaPlata, Maryland; five grandchildren; six sisters,  Myrtle and Susan Leigh, and Carolyn Lassiter, all of Clinton, Maryland, Julian Leigh of Suitland, Maryland, Mary Leigh of Alexandria, Rebecca Smith of Overland Park, Kansas and Joyce El of Washington, DC; five brothers,  Thomas Leigh (Charlotte) of Clinton, Willis Leigh of Ft. Washington, Maryland, Harold Leigh of Crystal Hill, Fredrick Leigh (Carolyn) of Catonsville, Maryland and Lawrence Leigh (Sonya) of Jacksonville, Florida; and a host of other relatives and friends including the devoted, Paulette Williams of Landover. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Leigh was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Bailey; and five sisters: Sarah Mallory, Lillie Mae Wimbush, Dorothy Harris, Grace Judkins and Linda Faye Leigh.

Funeral services for Mr. Leigh will be Saturday, July 25, 2020, at 11 a.m. at The Crawford House Chapel, Halifax, with the Rev. Louis S. Leigh officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Crystal Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.  

Public viewing hours for family and friends will be Friday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at The Crawford House Chapel.
