Pastor John Lee Faulkner of Virgie Cole Road, South Boston, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, at Sentara Woodview at the age of 87.
Pastor Faulkner was born in Halifax County on May 9, 1932 to the late Ms. Mary Elizabeth Faulkner and was married to Elder Dorothy Satterfield Faulkner.
He was a member of New Ephesus Baptist Church.
Pastor Faulkner is survived by his wife of the home; his children, Pastor Doris S. Faulkner (John Cedric) of Vernon Hill, Pastor Lisa F. Woodall (Charles), Minister Jennifer F. Carter (Stan) of Farmville and daughter from a previous marriage, Gloria Faulkner, of Baltimore, Maryland; 11 grandchildren; one adopted granddaughter; 25 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Pamela H. Faulkner, of Deridder, Lousiana; two brothers, Charlie Ferrell (Lily) and Roosevelt Ferrell, all of Newport News; four sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one son, John Robert Faulkner, one daughter, Belinda Gail S. Chappell, one grandson, Charles “Scooter” Woodall, one great-grandson, James Oscar Chappell VI, and two sisters, Essie Carrington and Carrie F. Sanford.
Funeral services for Pastor Faulkner will be held on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, at 1 p.m. at New Ephesus Baptist Church with Apostle Alan Graves, eulogist.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Public viewing for family and friends will be Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
