Mrs. Julia Macon Britton died on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021, at the age of 99.
Mrs. Britton was born in Halifax County on June 21, 1922 to the late George Washington Mayo and Lena West. She was married to the late Aaron Wilson Britton and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
Mrs. Britton is survived by one daughter, Karen Garrett (Alphonso) of Clover; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; a devoted caretaker and friend, Ophelia Traynham; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Stanley Britton Sr.; one brother, George Mayo; and one sister, Margie Garrett.
Graveside services for Mrs. Julia Macon Britton was held Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Marvin Bowman, eulogist.
Public viewing for family and friends was held Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021, from noon to 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home, South Boston.
