Julia Mae Walden Church of Dry Fork passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019. She was born in Halifax County on Nov. 3, 1939 and was 80 years of age. She was the daughter of the late John Samuel Walden Jr. and the late Cornelia Mae Gosney Walden. She was married to the late Frank B. Church.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Julia is survived by her children, Lois W. Triplett of Danville, Sarah Whitlow of Dry Fork and Frank Benjamin “Benjie” Church and wife Stephanie of Durham, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Austin Triplett, Patrick Owen, Erica Adams (Ian), Zachary Allen, Richard Wilborne, Christine Jones (Thomas) and Melanie Conner (Greg); six great-grandchildren; siblings Mary Elizabeth Wellons of Conway, South Carolina, John Samuel Walden Sr. and wife Pat of Danville and Robert Kemper Walden and wife Morag of Lebanon; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Richard “Rick” Whitlow.

A private graveside service will be held Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery with the Rev. Don Bryant officiating.
