Mr. Kenneth Black, age 76, of Nathalie, passed away in Lynchburg on Friday, Oct. 29, 2021. He was the son of the late Mr. George Black and Mrs. Mary Boyd Black, and the husband of the late Mrs. Barbara Jean Barksdale Black.

He is survived by his three children Anthony Black and Kenneth “Tic” Black of the home and Sharonette “Nikki” Black-Wade (Wendell) of Brandywine, Maryland; five grandchildren, Marqarita “Shae” Sanford, Nahajje “Hajje” Johnson, Omar Terry, Jamar Terry and Nygee Terry; two great-grandchildren, O’Riyon Gregory and Prince Omiir Gregory; five brothers, George Black (Adriann) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Dennis Marable (Joan) of South Boston, Larry Marable (Lois) of Long Island and Phillip and William Lovelace both of Concord; four sisters: Debra Carr (James) of Nathalie, Carolyn Monroe (Robert) of Connecticut, Joyce Jones (Jeff) of Brookneal and Florine Gilbert (Charlie) of Naruna; one sister-in-law, Edith Black of Nathalie; a devoted niece but a sister, Victoria Penn; a devoted aunt, Mrs. Sallie Boyd; a devoted friend, Tom Gilbert; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Black and Harvey Black (Gloria); and one sister, Barbara Jones (Randy).

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Second Buffalo Baptist Church in Nathalie with interment in the church cemetery. 

Public viewing will begin on Wednesday from noon until 7 p.m. at the Jeffress Funeral Home, Brookneal Chapel.
