Lila Petty Rumbaugh of South Boston passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018. She was born in South Boston on May 2, 1927 and was 91 years of age. She was the daughter of the late William Abel Petty and the late Rosa Nell Smart. She was married for 28 years to Spenser Stebbins Throckmorton and later to the late Robert Dean Rumbaugh.

She was a member of Centerville Baptist Church.

Lila Rumbaugh is survived by her children, Spencer Stebbins Throckmorton III of New York, New York, Tony Throckmorton of South Boston, Alma Kay Ratcliff of South Boston, Amy Elliott of South Boston and William Fuller Throckmorton and wife Shelly of Charlottesville; grandchildren Lee Ratcliff and wife Liana, Nell Ratcliff, Dax Elliott and wife Carisa, Ruth Williams, Tonya Tanksley and Tenley Elizabeth Throckmorton; great-grandchildren Alex and Jackson Elliott, Jamie Michelle Taylor, Raven Gray Williams, Callie Snyder, Ava Jude Ratcliff, MacKenzie Lee Ratcliff, Evie Lugo and Chole Clay; and her nephew, Kenneth Perkins.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Todd McClure officiating.

Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home.
