Ms. Mae Virginia Kirby of South Boston died on Oct. 18, 2020 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 66.
Ms. Kirby was born April 14, 1954 in Halifax County to the late Mr. Nelson Kirby Sr. and Mrs. Virginia Lee Edmunds Kirby. She was married to Mr. Floyd Douglas Terry and to this union four children were born.
She was a retired employee of Berry Hill Health and Rehab Center.
Ms. Kirby is survived by four daughters, Catherine M. Terry and Sharon N. Terry, both of South Boston, Tabatha T. Younger (William) of Nathalie and Florial Denise of Dumfries; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Kirby and Paul Kirby (Elsie), all of Halifax; three sisters, Barbara K. Miller, Linda K. Wilson and Valerie K. Moore (Stanford); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, one brother, Nelson Kirby Jr., and one sister, Dorothy Lee Kirby, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services for Ms. Kirby will be Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel, South Boston with the Rev. Dr. Mary A. Cherry officiating.
Burial will follow in Union Grove C.M.E. Church cemetery.
Due to COVID- 19 there may be limited seating. A face mask and social distancing will be required.
Public viewing for family and friends was Thursday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
