Mr. Marvis Gray Carr of Scottsburg died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2020, at his residence at the age of 82.

Mr. Carr was born in Halifax County on July 31, 1938 to the late Mr. Joseph Carr and Mrs. Roberta Brandon Carr. He first married the late Annie Louise Strange Carr and later married Mrs. Mattie Sydnor Carr. He was a member of Banister Hill Baptist Church and was a former employee of Burlington Industry for over 43 years and later a security guard at Halifax Regional Hospital.

Mr. Carr is survived by his wife of the home; four daughters, Ms. Darlene Carr of Halifax, Ms. Cheryl Carr of Millersville, Maryland, Mrs. Debra Sanders (Jeffrey) of Pasadena, Maryland, and Ms. Kamala Carr of Glen Burnie, Maryland; one step son, Mr. Chad Sydnor, of Virginia Beach; one brother, Mr. Henry Carr (Yvonne) of Haymarket; three grandsons; six great-grandchildren; eight sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, and first wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Willie Pearl Carr Booker; four brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.

Funeral service for Mr. Carr will be Thursday, Aug. 20, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Banister Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Halifax. Following COVID-19 guidelines, a facemask and social distancing will be required.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2020, from noon. until 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
