Mrs. Mary Ann Lawson Stovall of South Boston died Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at her residence at the age of 84.

Mrs. Stovall was born in Halifax County on June 10, 1935 to the late Ms. Aranda Lawson. She was married to the late Mr. Thomas Stovall and was a member of New Mount Olive Apostolic Church.

Mrs. Stovall is survived by four daughters, Ms. Mary “Ree” Stovall, Mrs. Shirley S. Harris (Charlie “Jackie”), Ms. Avon Stovall and Mrs. Felicia Upchurch, (Danny); five sons, Mr. James “Dink” Stovall (Evon), Mr. Thomas ”Ron” Stovall, Mr. Mike Stovall, Mr. Efrem “Vincent” Stovall and Mr. Jeffrey “Bill” Stovall; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one son, Mr. Wallace Stovall; one daughter, Ms. Sophronia Stovall; and one grandchild, Kev’Neisha Stovall.

Funeral services for Mrs. Stovall will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Church of God in South Boston, with Bishop Carolyn Hardison as eulogist.

Burial will follow in the New Mount Olive Apostolic Church Cemetery.

Public viewing will be today, Jan. 10, 2020 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. 

The family will receive friends at the residence, 200 Hamilton Blvd. Apt. #21-G, South Boston.
