Nancy Dunston Throckmorton of Scottsburg passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020. She was born in Halifax County on July 3, 1941 and was 78 years of age.

She was the daughter of the late John Dunston and the late Florence Toombs Lloyd. She was married to John Lewis Throckmorton who survives.

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Nancy was a tax preparer and ran her own business for many years. She also was a bookkeeper at local tobacco warehouses.

Nancy D. Throckmorton is survived by her husband of 54 years, John Lewis Throckmorton of Scottsburg; her daughter, Debra Tulin and husband Pete of Flanders, New Jersey; four grandchildren, Katie and Dave Tulin, John David and Justin Lewis Throckmorton and their mom, Betty Peade (Barry); sisters-in-law, Sylvia Waller (Jimmy), Brenda Carnes (Russ), Linda Morris (Wayne) and Joyce Lloyd; brothers-in-law, Milton Throckmorton, Alvin Throckmorton (Frances) and Harold Throckmorton (Judy); goddaughter Kathy Edmonds Cole and husband Ricky; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her son, John David Throckmorton; two brothers, Charlie Lloyd and Dick Lloyd; three sisters, Linda, Shirley and Peggy; and foster family Carrie Dickerson, A.D. Dickerson, Norman Dickerson and Polly Dickerson.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020, at Powell Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jack Stewart officiating. Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery in Scottsburg.

The family received friends Tuesday, one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home and other times at their home, 2013 Scottsburg Rd., Scottsburg.
