Mrs. Nannie Sue Dunn Lawson of Cluster Springs Road, Alton, died on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020, at Berry Hill Nursing Home at the age of 90.

Mrs. Lawson was born May 3, 1929 in Halifax County to the late Mr. Robert Jackson Dunn and Mrs. Virgie Walker Dunn. She was married to the late Mr. Claude Owen Lawson and was a member of New Ephesus Baptist Church.

Mrs. Lawson leaves to cherish loving memories her devoted children, Barbara Surgeon of Alton, Charlie Lawson (Doris) of Halifax, Robert Lawson (Renee) of Dover, Delaware, Laura Lawson of Catonsville, Maryland, Linda Smith (Robert) of Bowie, Maryland, Cynthia Caldwell (Keith) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Anthony Lawson (Katherine) of Danville; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a devoted neighbor, Raymond Stovall; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Marvin Lawson and Derrick Lawson; and three sisters, Alma Dunn, Jewelle Dunn and Mary Lucille Dunn Cheek. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Nannie Sue Dunn Lawson will be held on Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, at 11 a.m. at New Ephesus Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Franklin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, Feb. 28, 2020, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence, 4141 Cluster Springs Road, Alton.
